Hilton Porto Gaia Hotel

Porto, Portugal

The creative concept by Atelier Nini Andrade Silva, for the interior design project of the Hilton Porto Gaia Hotel, is fully based on principles related to the Wine universe and the demarcated region of Douro Vinhateiro.

Of a sober nature, as we walk through the hotel we come across grand spatial areas with exclusive design touches that make the entire space unique! This is, for example, the case of the scenic atmosphere created for the reception area, framed by details taken from the large wooden barrels used for wine preservation and maturation. Providing comfort and a sense of welcome, the lounge area features a large fireplace that transforms the entire environment.

The clean design and a strong sense of avant-garde are also the indelible marks of the 240-person restaurant, whose lightness of proportions is suggested by the introduction of sculpted elements. The same symbolism is used in the auditorium area, creating an allusion to the history of Porto Wine.

The common areas of the hotel suggest a striking contrast between the warm colours of wine and the softer tones of green velvet and brown leather accents. Unmistakably reflecting the grandeur of the social areas, the 143 rooms and 51 suites were designed in shades of soft grey with photographs of the Douro Vinhateiro.

The club area can be functionally used for breakfast or exclusive events and, at night has the versatility of a special restaurant with a privileged view of the Douro River.

With a language consistently marked by the same theme, in the SPA area a pool was designed resembling a large wine tank.
