The proposed concept for this Hotel in the Porto city centre reflects the architectural and constructive versatility of the existing building, as well as its geographical proximity to the city's bridges, ultimately merging with the history and identity of the territory.
Referencing the industrial period of the late 19th and early 20th century, a time of construction of large industrial units, communication routes such as the D. Maria and D. Luis I bridges, industrial equipment, iron and glass infrastructures, the interior design approach by Atelier Nini Andrade Silva takes shape through the use of refined and modernist elements.
The light, ensured by large glazed areas in contrast to the more contained openings of adjacent buildings, reflects the lightness of proportions suggested by materials such as iron, concrete and glass, contrasting with the neighbouring stone buildings.
